Chapter Fourteen
I woke up when the bed shifted and Beel’s hand left mine. I blinked tiredly at him, “Good morning,Beel,” my voice raspy and words slightly slurred.
“Did you sleep like that,” he was smiling, but also looked worried.
“Yeah, why,” I got up, my joints popping as I stretched.
“Wasn’t that uncomfortable? Why’d you sleep there?”
“You’re chatty this morning,” I yawned, “You were still holding my hand.”
“Could you not remove your hand? I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine, it comforted you so that’s a good enough reason to stay.”
“Couldn’t have slept in the bed, at least?”
“That felt weird. Just because you asked to hold my hand doesn’t mean I can get into bed with you.”
“Well, next time sleep in the bed with me.”
“Okay,” I didn’t really expect there to be a next time.
We got ready for school and went to the dining room for breakfast. Everyone was tense since it was the first time we’d all be together since Lucifer attacked me yesterday. No one really spoke during breakfast. It was such a stifling atmosphere I couldn’t hardly eat. Lucifer’s guilty ass face wasn’t helping either.
Eventually I gave up and sighed, “I can’t stand this anymore. Y’all are so fucking tense. I’m going to school.”
They all looked surprised at my attitude as I got up. Before I got far Lucifer called to me, “Drizzm, I need to speak to you. Meet me in the music room before you head to school.” “Okay,” I plainly responded as Asmo acted like it was hot, new gossip. At least the tense atmosphere wouldn’t last long. I grabbed my bad and met Lucifer where he said.
“Hello, Drizzm,” he greeted pensively, “I wanted to apologize for my actions yesterday.”
“You’re forgiven,” I immediately said, “Beel explained the grimoire and I hold no hard feelings when you’re just protecting your family.”
He seemed very surprised, but still forced an apology, “Either way, my actions and words were incorrect of me.”
“Diavolo’s making you do this, isn’t he?”
“Excuse you,” he glared. Oops, made him angry again.
“If you were going to apologize you would have done so last night when I got back with the others. I don’t care either way. I forgave you yesterday.”
“While you are not necessarily wrong. Why must you point it out?”
“Because I like communication and I want you to know I’m not stupid.”
“You sure don’t act like it,” it was my turn to glare at him, “Which leads me to my next point. I don’t know why you’re forming pacts with my brothers, but you need keep your nose out where it doesn’t belong. Focus on surviving your year here. Then you can go back to your normal life.”
I sighed, “At least the others were obvious with their hatred. People like you make me more nervous because you’re kind to me but don’t actually want to be. At least it won’t be for a totally stupid reason. It’ll probably be my own dumb ass fault.”
He didn’t really say anything so I excused myself. During the school day I received a text in the group chat saying that there would be a meeting in the council room after school. I was supposed to be there as well. Which was why Lucifer bothered to use that group chat.
After school I joined the others in the student council room. Where Diavolo addressed us, “I called this meeting to announce that there will be a retreat at the Demon Lord’s Castle with all of you. The intent is to strengthen the bonds between those involved with the exchange.”
And that was sorta it really. There’s just a sleepover at the castle. Which was pretty cool, not gonna lie. We all chatted excitedly about it for the rest of the week. The angels and Solomon would obviously be there too but Luke has been keeping his distance from any of the brother’s and I barely get any time away from the brothers at this point.
