Visit Fifteen
A few days later was my next practice session and Ensharra complained again that I would be gone. In fact, he ate his lunch much slower than usual to try and keep me here longer.
“En,” I stressed, “Just because you eat slower doesn’t mean I won’t just leave for practice.”
He pouted as he took another bite.
“Stop looking like that. We still see each other literally every day.”
“I still don’t have to like it.”
“True,” I sighed and thought for a second, “How about this? On days that I have practice we will spend the morning outside on castle grounds?”
He lit up, “Really?”
“Yes, really,” I smiled, “Is that alright with you?”
He nodded.
“Good. Now finish your food so I can head to practice.”
Now that we came to a nice agreement he didn’t complain about me leaving anymore. He was still sad but he didn’t try to keep me from going. It was also nice spending the mornings outside with him. I would info dump at him about the different plants in the garden and he would even know some of them and give me information about what the meaning used to be for some flowers or what medicinal uses others may have. We’d also chat about whatever came to mind or just spent time in a comfortable silence together.
